MORE THAN JUST A FRIENDLY VOICE ON THE PHONE . . . You may know our staff personally from Pro Tem’s membership in many of Here’s who you might talk with when you call: Pat Schmidt, President Pat founded Pro Tem Legal Services in 1979. She’s a hands-on
manager who’s done every job in the business. Before starting Pro Tem, she spent over ten years working as a legal
secretary. Pat is a past president of the San Diego Legal Secretaries Association and of the San Diego Chapter of the California Association of
Temporary and Staffing Services and is a California Accredited Consultant.
We’re glad “the buck stops” at her desk. Karen Conole, Payroll/Billing Karen joined Pro Tem in 1990 as our staff recruiter. Since then she’s worked a number of positions, including years as our candidate screener and staffing coordinator. She currently handles employee payroll/health insurance and client billing and writes our Career Help articles, open job descriptions, Success Stories and “The Pro Tem Reporter” newsletter. She also updates the Law Office Resource Book for our field staff members; arranges our employee appreciation luncheons and staff performance bonuses; designs our newspaper ads, and maintains our website, so it’s a good thing she likes [many] hats! Karen Potter,
In-house Word Processing Supervisor In keeping with that old adage, “Two
Karens are better than one,” we’ve added another to our in-house
staff, in the person of Karen Potter, who temped with us off and on between
her relocations to the Midwest (Chicago) and to the Southern Hemisphere
(Australia) before deciding to make San Diego—and
Pro Tem—her permanent home. For an easy-going person, she has
really surprised us with her ability to juggle conflicting priorities, handle
tight deadlines and coordinate complex projects with skill and aplomb. Her
constant upbeat attitude and riotous tales of raising two teenaged boys keeps
us, and her production clients, all in good humor. Glad to have her aboard
(“mate”). Marcelle Oyos, In-house Administrative Assistant We’ve been searching a long time for an
administrative assistant that is not just very good—we want the one
that other offices would “kill” for, and we finally have one with
Marcelle. She brings with her over twenty years of legal secretarial
experience and so has “walked the walk,” making her a very
empathetic contact for our many field staffers. In addition to her
wide-ranging experience, Marcelle brings to the job a host of skills,
including a talent for organization that can’t be beat. Combine that
with her warm voice and friendly demeanor and you’ve got the perfect
person to assist you, whenever you call Pro Tem. (Why not call right now and
see what we mean?!) Lisa Punzo, In-house Word Processing/Production Billing Lisa has been with Pro Tem since 1985, first as a temporary legal
secretary/word processor and later as in-house word processor. Lisa is a
talented verbatim transcriber and specializes in projects such as City
Council hearings, recorded statements and police communications tapes. She
also puts her administrative and computer skills to such uses as timekeeping
and billing for the Word Processing Department, file organization and
maintenance and special projects for clients. |
