Here are a
few of the positions we’re looking to fill… Direct
Placement/Temporary-to-Hire/Long-Term Contract:
Here’s an excellent
mid-sized (23-attorney) firm in Downtown San Diego that needs a “star
studded” litigation secretary who has good tenure and hasn’t
hopped around a lot. This would be for their top producing senior partner so you’ll
need a minimum of 7-10 years experience, strong litigation and word
processing skills, and common sense. You’ll also want to be sort of a
“no nonsense” type of employee, because your boss—while being
the very best attorney anyone could every hope to have—is not at all
the warm fuzzy type. He is an extremely busy “Alpha Male”-type who
will not be making any Monday morning small talk about how you spent your
weekend, nor will he expect you to. He wants someone who just wants to come
in and do the work. (That’s fair, right?) And he expects perfection. (Okay,
that’s not so fair, but his last secretary told us that she became a
much better secretary by working for him, which we think makes this job more
like paid “boot-camp” training.) You can’t be a
“shrinking violet” type for this position, but you
shouldn’t be confrontational, either. A competent, professional
attitude is what works best, and you can believe us when we say it is handsomely rewarded. The pay and
benefits are some of the best in the industry. Also, the technology there is
very up-to-date, the folks are all very nice and the work is very interesting,
as their clients list is a “Who’s Who” of Fortune 500
companies, so if you like the idea of working with clients that are household
names, and are willing to meet the challenge of this high-volume desk, call
us today and we’ll show you how!
If your attitude is as good as
your aptitude (that is to say, you enjoy your work and you’re good at
it), then we have a partner with a small firm that would like a word with
you. He’s ideally looking for 5-10 years of experience with a
litigation background. You’d also be working for another attorney who
also does trademark law, and you’d be using MS Word as well as
WordPerfect. They use Abacus, too, but the attorneys do their own time entry,
and, since they do seminars, PowerPoint experience would really help to make
your application rise above all others. But that attitude thing is really the
deal maker. You’ll need to want to work hard, including doing your own
filing, and showing up to work on time. (Not too much to ask, you might
think, but you’d be surprised…). There is another secretary in
the office and the temp staff we’ve sent there have said that
it’s an “excellent environment” that “everyone is
friendly and helpful.” Care to make that “everyone + you”?
If so, call us today.
This Downtown firm is looking
for a file clerk who has the right combination of “hard” skills
and “soft” skills. What, exactly, would those skills be, you ask?
Well, the hard skills you’ll need are a minimum of 1 year's experience
in both records management and litigation, computer competency using
Microsoft Word, good typing skills (50-55 wpm), and the ability to lift and
move boxes (20-25 pounds, more or less). The soft skills—which are
equally important to these folks—include a really strong work ethic, a
desire to “own” the job and assume accountability for your work,
and a can-do attitude (their number one priority). You’ll need to be
able to deal with pressure, shift gears and accept change while staying
focused in midst of those changes and work well independently as well as part
of a team. If you’re also a bright, detail oriented, high-energy,
independent thinker who is capable of effective multi-tasking you will make
the short list for this placement. And yes, we know that if you can do all
that, you’ll probably also make the short list for King-of-the-World,
but our client isn’t looking for just some run-of-the-mill document
clerk—they want the best darned document clerk that San Diego has to
offer—so look carefully over the above list of requirements. If it
sounds familiar (as in people are always describing you in these terms), then
call us today. Please.
