PRO TEM LEGAL SERVICES
PAID HOLIDAY BENEFITS
Pro Tem is happy to offer paid holidays to our
qualifying employees who are working at least part-time (averaging 20 hrs per week).
The following are some commonly asked questions.
When do I become eligible for the Pro Tem
paid holiday benefit?
You are eligible for all our paid holidays once you work a total of 200 hours for Pro Tem.
What other criteria must I meet in order to be paid for a
holiday, once I am eligible?
(a) During the four weeks preceding the week in which the holiday occurs, you must have worked at least 120 hours for Pro Tem
and
(b) You must work a minimum of 4.0 hours for Pro Tem every business day during the week in which the holiday occurs (except for the holiday itself, of course!).
Which holidays qualify for the Pro Tem
holiday pay benefit?
New Year’s Day
President’s Day
Memorial Day
Independence Day
Labor Day
Thanksgiving Day
Christmas Day
How much will I receive if I qualify for this benefit?
You will receive 7.5 hours of pay at your base salary per hour (i.e., the salary rate as stated on your contract). [Exception: if you have been working at a different rate than your base rate for the entire qualifying month and holiday week, you will be paid at that rate for the holiday.]
How do I claim my holiday pay benefit?
As a paid holiday approaches, Pro Tem reviews the hours worked by all employees to determine which employees meet the above requirements. Holiday pay will automatically be paid to you if you qualify. No action is required on your part.
What if Pro Tem is unable to place me every
business day during the week of the holiday, or if I am, for any other reason,
unable to work the minimum of 4.0 hours for Pro Tem every business
day during the week of the holiday?
We usually
experience an increased demand for temporary staff during holiday weeks, so
most employees who are eligible for holiday pay usually have an opportunity to
meet the requirement of working every business day of the week in which the
holiday occurs. However, if we are unable to offer you (or you are unable to
accept and complete) a minimum of four hours of work every business day
of the holiday week, you will not qualify for that holiday’s pay benefit.
What if I work on a holiday for which I am entitled to
receive the holiday pay benefit?
You
will be paid the holiday pay (7.5 hours) in addition to your salary for
the hours you worked on the holiday.
